Charles Edward Pate, 66, husband of Thayedell Floyd Pate, died Monday, January 6, 2020, at his residence, after an illness.
Mr. Pate was born on October 2, 1953 in Florence County, son of the late Caleb Pate and Frances Matthews Pate. He was a graduate of J. C. Lynch High School and Williamsburg Technical College. Mr. Pate was a retired Superintendent of FBI Construction and Hunter Builders. He attended Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church and enjoyed woodworking and auctions.
Surviving are his wife, Thayedell Floyd Pate of Turbeville; daughter, Amanda (Kris) McGee of Lake City; sons, Dwayne (Joyce Nesbitt) Pate of Sumter, Glenn (Amanda Powell) Morris and Ervin (Autumn) Morris, both of Turbeville; grandchildren, Liam (Katelyn) McGee, Will McGee, Chandler Morris, Cody Morris, Adalynn Powell, Connor Morris, Dane Pate, Mattie Morris and Bennett Morris; great grandson, Waylon McGee; nieces, Donna Carsten and Rhonda Byrd.
Mr. Pate was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanette P. Powell; and a nephew, Ronnie Powell.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church, Turbeville. Burial will follow at Pine Dale Cemetery, Turbeville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton and other times at the home.
