Ethel Dreda McComb, 100, wife of the late James Link McComb, Jr. died Monday, June 10, 2019, at her residence.
Mrs. McComb was born on August 12, 1918, in Florence County, daughter of the late John Eaton Myers and Jeanette Margaret Cockfield Myers. Dreda has been a member of Hebron Baptist Church for 88 years. She joined the church when she was 12 years old. She worked in Vacation Bible School, sang in the Choir, taught Sunday School, was a Prayer Warrior and also attended Women of Mission Meetings. Dreda retired from J. C. Penney's, was an avid gardener with a "green thumb", she loved to cook and share the good times with her family and friends. As a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and wife, she was a Christian influence on everyone that had the honor of knowing her. She walked the path with the Lord and shared her love, kindness, thoughtfulness, and wisdom unselfishly. To her family, she was Granny! A Granny who was never to busy to help or lend a hand. A Granny who took the time to listen and understand. A Granny who was simply "The Best Granny Ever" that will live in our hearts forever!
Surviving are her daughter, Jackie Cribb of Effingham; grandchildren, Teresa (Eric) Engelke of Surfside Beach, Lesa (Glenn) Hellofs of Myrtle Beach, Will (Nicole) Weaver of Myrtle Beach, James (Megan) McComb of Columbia, Steve (Julie) Cubine of Fort Mill, Kim Cubine (Chris Quillian) of Washington, DC, Al Cribb of Effingham, Kristina Cribb of Scranton and Matthew Henry of Litchfield; great grandchildren, Carson Engelke and Salena (Francisco) Martin, both of Surfside Beach, Erin Hellofs, Alaina Hellofs, Maggie Weaver and Parker Weaver, all of Myrtle Beach, Trent and Jake Cubine of Fort Mill and Charlie Quillian of Washington, DC; and brother-in-law, Jake Lee.
