Gary Tillman Howard

Gary Tillman Howard, 90, husband of the late Myrtle Caulder Howard, died Monday, July 29, 2019, at Lake City Scranton Health Care.

Mr. Howard was born on May 23, 1929 in Williamsburg County, son of the late Tillman and Clemmie Howard.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a 3rd class specialist in the Korean War.  Mr. Howard was co-owner of H & H Construction and later retired from Grace Construction. He enjoyed fishing, camping and watching all forms of wildlife.

Surviving are his children, Louise (Jim) Poston, Gail Hyman and Roland (Theresa) Howard; daughter-in-law, Elaine Goins; step-children, Buddy (Bobbie) Daniels, Deborah Filyaw and John Lewis (Brenda) Daniels; fifteen grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren. A special niece, Brenda (Troy) Capps; a special nephew, Pat (Brenda) Harrell; and a special friend, Lisa Platz.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by a son, Leon Howard; sister, Leola Harrell; and a stepdaughter, Janet Daniels.  

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial, with full military honors to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home.
