Gary Rickey Murphy

Gary Rickey Murphy, 63, husband of Sinthia Cupp Murphy, died Monday, September 9, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Murphy was born on November 20, 1955 in Pikeville, KY, son of the late James Howard Murphy and Delphia Bailey Murphy.  He was a graduate of Morristown East High School in Morristown, TN.  Mr. Murphy was a retired coal miner and former business owner.  He was a member of Broad Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a former member of Miracle Way Baptist in Senoia, GA, where he served as deacon for over 20 years.  Mr. Murphy enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and yard work.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Sinthia Cupp Murphy of Effingham; brother, Howard D. (Gail) Murphy of Ashcamp, KY; sister, Sandra (Larry) Crum of Ashcamp, KY; nieces and nephews, Julie (Billy) Taylor, Colby (Kezia) Murphy, Crystal (Burl) King, Misty (David) Deskins, Larissia (Cole) Dumas, Hope Murphy, Connie (Jeff) Price Robin Hawley and Bobby Buckner; special friends, Robert and Miriam Parnell, and Katie Walling; and a host of great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Allen Murphy; and nieces, Melinda Williams and Jennifer Lynn Coleman.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Broad Swamp Pentecostal Holiness Church, Kingstree, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
