Joseph Paul Alexander, Sr, 86, husband of the late Annette Floyd Yarborough Alexander, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, after an illness.
Mr. Alexander was born October 21, 1932, son of the late Marshall Beady Alexander and Estelle Curry Alexander. He attended Florence county public schools and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 25th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He was a former member of Friendfield PH Church and more recently attended the Scranton PH church. Mr. Alexander was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his children, Joseph Paul (Jan) Alexander, Jr. of Olanta, Michael Steven "Mike" (Luann) Alexander of Sumter, Penny Marie (Reverend Paul) Glass of Reidsville, GA and Philip B. "Phil" (Sherry) Alexander of Bonneau; grandchildren, Genie Marie Alexander, Mary Anne Alexander (Will) Fulton, Tiffany Alexander (Lee Lawrimore), Michael Christopher Alexander (Anna Dickinson and her daughter, Leah), Kayla Alexander (Alex Moran), Lloyd Eugene (Franchesca) Baker, II, Rebekah (Jared) Bennett, Joshua (Jessica) Glass, Garit Glass, Nathan Glass, Miranda Glass, Sarah Alexander and Hannah Alexander; great grandchildren, Johnny Fulton, Carsyn Delany Lawrimore, Gianna Moran, Alex Moran, Jr., Dillon Baker, Gavin Baker, Christopher Smith, Gabe Michael Bennett; brother, Len (Roberta) Alexander of Scranton.
Mr. Alexander was predeceased by his brother; Clyde Alexander and sisters; Ruth A. Davis, Jessie A. Prosser, Vera A. Dempsy and Lucille A. Rodgers.
Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Friendfield PH Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
