Karla Garris Obituary

Karla Maritz Garris, 54, wife of the late Joel Fritz Garris, died Thursday, January 2, 2020, at MUSC after an illness.

Mrs. Garris was born July 24, 1965, in Jacksonville, Florida, daughter of John Maritz and the late Alice Applegate Maritz. Karla was a graduate of South Florence High School and was a member of the Florence Baptist Temple. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Heather (Michael) Clontz of Effingham and April (James) Driggers of St. Johns, Florida; grandchildren, Caden Driggers, Madelynn Clontz, Casey Driggers, Logan Clontz; father, John (Betty) Maritz of Hickory, NC; sister-in-law, Lisa Garris of Effingham; brother-in-law, Joseph Garris, II of Conway; Uncle, Chester Martiz.

Mrs. Garris was preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly Maritz and brother-in-law, Johnny Garris.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
