Vera Kennedy Collins, 93, wife of the late John Dewey Collins, died Friday, July 5, 2019, at MUSC in Florence, SC.
Mrs. Collins was born on July 7, 1925, in Scranton, daughter of the late Henry Leon Kennedy, Sr. and Maybelle Evans Kennedy. She was a longtime faithful member of Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School in the adult and children's department for over 50 years. Mrs. Collins enjoyed working in her flowers and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Diane (Tommy) Mitchum of Kingstree, Carolyn (Steve) Garland of Rock Hill, Steve (Kaaron) Collins of Lake City and Judy (Larry) Richardson of Anderson; three grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ruby Kay Finch of Wilmington, NC and Annie Laura Duke of Lake City.
Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry Leon Kennedy, Jr., Samuel Kennedy, Walter "Shorty" Kennedy, Cliffton Kennedy and G. W. Kennedy; and a sister, Claranette Earp.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the church.
