Alicia Diggs Floyd, 82, wife of the late Fred Floyd, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Floyd was born on September 29, 1943, in Florence, daughter of the late Lucien Edward “Ed” Diggs and Christine McClam Diggs. She was a 1961 graduate of Lake City High School, earned a Bachelors Degree from Francis Marion University and a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Floyd was a school teacher at St. Mark Elementary School and was a member of Paran Baptist Church for over twenty years.
Mrs. Floyd was a sweet and kind Christian woman whose warm smile and open heart touched everyone she met. She had a gentle spirit and a deep love for the simple beauties of life. She found joy in flowers, loved expressing herself through painting, and had a special place in her heart for animals. The beach was one of her favorite places, where she felt peace and happiness in the sound of the waves and the beauty of God's creation. Her kindness, faith, and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family was her greatest treasure in life and she loved them deeply.
Surviving are her daughters, Suzan Dickerson (Mark) Josey, Angela Dickerson (Richie) Miles, April Phalen; step-daughters, Charlotte (Jason) Driggers, Jennifer (Thomas) Evans; grandchildren, Serena Josey (Zane) Hayes, Alita Josey, Angel McCutcheon (Ryder) Ward, Krystal Miles, Mary Katherine (Bryan) Michaux, Destiny Ann (Eli) Roman, Amber Victoria Jones, Brittany Constance Jones, Lucien Allen Phalen; great grandchildren, Sienna, Karter, Bennett, Wren and Harlow McMillan (to be born in July 2026); step-grandchildren, Wyatt Driggers, Corissa Driggers, Tristian Evans, Morgan Evans; step-great grandchildren, Gannon, Saylor, Paisley.
Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ronald “Ronnie” Dickerson; brother, Eddie Diggs, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home, with funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
Burial will be private.
