Alton Anderson

Obituary

Mr. Eddie Alton "Knot" Anderson, 81, beloved husband of Judy Chandler Anderson, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 10, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee, surrounded by his loving family and pastor.

Born on December 16, 1943, in Clarendon County, Mr. Anderson was the son of the late David Lamb Anderson and Gladys Floyd Anderson. While he worked for over 40 years at Santee Print in Sumter, SC, where he formed lifelong friendships and was known for his humor, his greatest calling and joy in life was serving the Lord.

A devoted and faithful Christian, Mr. Anderson dedicated his life to honoring God and serving others. He and his wife, Judy, were charter members of Olanta Pentecostal Holiness Church when it was established over 50 years ago, and he remained a cornerstone of the church throughout his life. His deep love for Christ was evident in everything he did, from his steadfast leadership as a Deacon for over 40 years to the countless ways he cared for the church and its members. Whether maintaining the church grounds, lending a helping hand, or encouraging others in their faith, he lived as a true servant of God.

Mr. Anderson’s devotion to Christ was the guiding force in his life, shaping his relationships, his work, and his love for his family. He found great joy in worship, prayer, and fellowship, always placing God first in all he did. His faith was unwavering, and he led by example, teaching those around him what it meant to walk humbly and faithfully with the Lord.

While his love for antique cars, three-wheelers, and motorcycles brought him enjoyment, his greatest earthly treasures were his family and church. His grandson, Travis, was the light of his life—his "eyeball"—and he cherished every moment with him. He was also the heart of his family, always bringing laughter, love, and wisdom into their lives. Known as the family jokester, his humor and warmth will be missed, but his legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy Chandler Anderson of Lake City; daughter, Lisa (Bob) Altman of Lake City; grandson, Travis (Jessy) Carter of Camden; sisters, Madine Anderson Beard of Kingstree and Emaline Melton of Lake City; brother, H.L. Anderson of Turbeville; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and special friends. He also leaves behind his cherished fur babies, Snicker and Prissy.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his sister, Etheline McGee, and brothers, Curtis "Dagger" Anderson and David "Bug" Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Olanta Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Olanta Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1130 Lucky Road, Lake City, SC 29560.
