Mrs. Annie Bell Powell Nettles, 100, of Lake City, wife of the late Lewis Nettles, Sr., passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Nettles was born on October 21, 1924, in Florence County, daughter of the late Hedley Powell and Rozelar Brown Tanner Powell. She was a member of Manoah Independent Methodist Church and retired from Wal-Mart. Mrs. Nettles loved to work in her garden and plant flowers but her greatest love was her children.
Surviving are her children, Hazel Driggers of Cades, Larry (Martha) Nettles of Florence, Bill (Debra) Nettles of Tampa, FL, Gerald Nettles of Florence, Martha (Ray) Stalvey of Timmonsville, Christine Ard of Pamplico, Ernestine Nettles of Lake City, Janine Nettles of Manning and Teresa Cusaac of Timmonsville; sister, Evelyn Powell Stone; daughter-in-law, Jelain Nettles of Charleston; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mrs. Nettles was preceded in death by two sons, Randy L. Nettles and Lewis Nettles, Jr.; grandson, Sean Alan Nettles; siblings, John Calvin “J.C.” Powell, Colee Powell, Vondora Powell Ard, Jesse Hedley Powell and Zuelene Miles; half siblings, Sarah Powell Lee, Gaynelle Esther McKenzie, Minnie Lou Powell Stone Jobb, Virgil Powell, Raleigh Lamar Tanner, Lory J. Tanner, Roosevelt V. “Buck” Powell, Virginia Powell Barnhill, and Laylon Powell Coker.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Cades Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
