Archie Leo Poston, Jr.

Archie Leo Poston, Jr., 79, husband of the late Barbara Johnson Poston, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Poston was born on May 20, 1946, in Florence County, son of the late Archie Leo Poston and Odessa Ridenhour Poston Greenwood. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam Conflict and was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Poston was a member of Unity Original Free Will Baptist Church and was an “unofficial” greeter. The only way to beat Mr. Archie to church, was to spend the night in the church parking lot. He loved hunting, Nascar, but most of all he loved his family and Jesus.

Surviving are his son, Dale (Donna) Poston of Florence; daughters, Tonya (Wade) Stone of Johnsonville, Sonya (Jody) Ard of Moncks Corner, Shelia (Jeffrey) Huggins of Hemingway, Evon Howell of Johnsonville; son, David (Dawn) Carter of Johnsonville; 24 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Wayne (Betty) Poston and Pete (Brenda) Poston; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mr. Poston was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Carter; step-father, Joe Greenwood; two nephews, Stan Poston and Jarrett Poston.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors to follow at Prosser Cemetery, Pamplico.
