Mr. Archie Nathaniel Evans, 81, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his home in Marion, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Evans was born on January 31, 1945, in Florence County, the son of the late Archie Bryan Evans and Olive Calhoun Evans. He was the proud owner of Florence Steel Erectors for over 30 years. In addition to his work, he was a devoted cattle farmer, and farming was a big part of his life. He found great joy in working with his cattle and horses.
Known for his kind and easygoing nature, Mr. Evans was a good listener who genuinely loved being around people. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always joking, bringing laughter and comfort to those around him. His presence had a way of putting everyone at ease, and he was never afraid to start over.
He enjoyed traveling, especially to Maggie Valley, where he loved eating rainbow trout. He also had a passion for coon hunting. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Evans is survived by his sons, Barry (Wanda) Evans and Archie (Crystal) Evans both of Aynor; daughter, Kristie (Matt) Fogle of Marion; grandchildren, River, Rose, Steel, Bella, Spencer, Amelia, Bailey, and Sarah Grace; his beloved sister, Carolyn Powell of Scranton; the mother of his children, Phyllis Evans of Aynor; his second wife, Cathy Lowder of Lake City; stepsons, Jared and Shawn; former long-term fiancée , Candace Watts; stepdaughters, Ashleigh and Heather and many other loved family members, including David and “Little Man”, Heather J.(Goddaughter), Nate “Firebug” and Neil “Tony”.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Evans, Keith Evans and James “Red” Evans and his sister, Vivian Yarborough.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Shiloh Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service.
