Barbara Annie (Adams) Benedict

Mrs. Barbara Adams Benedict, 83, wife of the late Gene Raymond Benedict, Sr., passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at MUSC Black River, Cades.

Mrs. Benedict was born in Florence County, on June 28, 1943, to the late James William Adams and Belle Cooper Adams. Mrs. Benedict was a faithful member of Lake City Church of God until her health declined, and she retired after many years as a Deli Clerk Manager. She found great joy in sitting outside in her rocking chair, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, and taking pride in creating a welcoming home. Gifted in the kitchen, she had a special talent for baking and decorating cakes that brought joy to family and friends. She also loved shopping, attending church, and spending time talking with her many friends. Mrs. Benedict will be remembered for her kind heart, warm spirit, and the love she shared with those around her.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Todd Benedict and Kevin James Benedict; special granddaughter, Katie Benedict; granddaughters, Kayla Benedict, Ambre Benedict and Keiana Kraft; great grandchildren, Kinsley Myers and Aubree Benedict; siblings, Audrey Teal, Dexter Adams, LaRue Adams and Carroll Adams.

Mrs. Benedict was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Raymond Benedict, Sr; son, Gene Raymond “Chip” Benedict, Jr.; and brother, Dallas Adams.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow the service.
