Barbara Matthews Lynch, 69, formally of Turbeville and wife of Rev. Allen Lynch, died Friday, January 7, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Mrs. Lynch was born on October 14, 1952 in Florence County, daughter of the late Edward Matthews and Malinda Carraway Matthews. She was a graduate of Southside High School in Florence. Barbara was a member of Pinedale PH Church in Turbeville and faithfully attended Olanta PH Church. She was a devoted wife and steadfast supporter of her husband’s ministry throughout their 50 years of marriage. Barbara was a homemaker and former florist who loved to cook and work in her yards. She loved any type of celebration and enjoyed hosting family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Rev. Allen Lynch of Darlington, are her daughters, Maura (Johnny) Arnold and Joni (Lance) Moody, both of Darlington; special adopted daughter, Coquis Janette Tiscareno (Brian) Burke of Newport Beach, CA; grandchildren, Katelyn Kirven (fiancé, Clay Windham), Ansley Kirven, Joshua Arnold, Ashley Moody, Fatima Burke, Hogan Burke and Brianna Burke; nieces & nephews raised in her home, Betty Tarte, Junior Lawhon, Billy Ray Lawhon and Judy Griffin.
Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by sisters, Alma McElveen, Betty Gray and Barzella Lawhon and a brother, Pressley Matthews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. Donald Duncan, Rev. Charlie Snipes and Rev. Raymond Burrows. Burial will follow at Pine Dale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church.
