Barbara Jean McAllister

Barbara Jean McAllister, 78, of Scranton, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at her residence.

Ms. McAllister was born on September 10, 1944, in Florence County, daughter of the late I. Kelly McAllister and Margaret Smith McAllister. She was a graduate of J.C. Lynch High School and retired from Scranton Elementary School, where she was the school secretary. Ms. McAllister was a member of Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church, Young at Heart and the Ladies Auxillary.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Susan McAllister; nieces, Freda (Mel) Evans and Jennifer Martin; nephew, James (Tiffany) McAllister; great nieces, Kristen (Jeromie) Brown, Alyssa Evans, Maggie (Jeffery Godwin) McAllister, Jordan (JW Barker) McAllister and Baylie Martin; great nephew, Daniel McAllister; 4 great-great nieces and nephews; god-children, Debbie Coward and Dale (Phyllis) Coward; god-grandson, Chris Coward; special cousin, who was like a sister, Thelma Coward.

Ms. McAllister was preceded in death by her brother, Freddie McAllister; grandparents, Eddie and Myrtie Smith.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church.
