Mr. Ben Tillman McGee, 77, of Scranton went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Lake City-Scranton Healthcare Center.
Mr. McGee was born on October 19, 1948, in Florence, the son of the late Luther “Luke” McGee and Annie Rose Mims McGee. He managed Sam’s Club in Lake City for five years and later worked with Joe Powell’s House Movers for fifteen years, until a vehicle accident forced him into early retirement. During his retirement, he found joy in caring for chickens and other animals, which had always been his passion.
Surviving are his sons, Larry (Jessica) McGee and Wade McGee; daughter, Christina (Danny) Browder; grandchildren, David Brown, Dymond Browder, Parker McGee, Alaina McGee and John Goodman; great grandchildren, Adaline Brown and Lincoln Brown; a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Debra Kirby McGee; grandson, Devyn Glen Browder; brothers, Clyde McGee and Charles “Shorty” McGee; and sister, Brenda Clark.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 PM in the chapel.
Burial will follow at Camp Branch Community Cemetery, Scranton.
