Bettie (Richardson) Owens

Mrs. Bettie Richardson Owens, 80 years old, of Johnsonville, South Carolina, wife of the late Clarence Asberry “Berry” Owens, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee.

Mrs. Owens was born on December 27, 1943, in Georgetown, South Carolina, daughter of the late Joe Cushman Richardson and Jessie Howard Richardson. She was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and a member of Johnsonville First Baptist Church, where she played the organ for over 30 years. Mrs. Owens loved to shag and enjoyed baking, designing flower arrangements, decorating her home, and planning birthday and Christmas celebrations for those she loved.

Surviving are her sons, Christopher Joie (Jan L.) Owens and Chuck (Michelle) Owens; grandchildren, Jameson (Megan) Owens, Jordan Owens, Anderson (Mary) Owens, Joseph Owens, Grace Owens, and Caroline Owens; six great grandchildren; sisters, Tommie Ann (Johnny) Ard and Nellie Jo Cribb.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M., on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, located at 215 East Highway 378 Bypass, Scranton, South Carolina, 29591, with the burial service to follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 11904 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
