Mrs. Betty Hyman Coker, 89, of Coward, widow of James “Buck” Coker, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.
Mrs. Coker was born on February 22, 1935, in Florence County, daughter of the late Ralph Hyman and Juanita Evans Hyman. She was a graduate of JC Lynch High School and was a homemaker. Mrs. Coker was a charter member of The Bible Temple in Coward. She enjoyed shopping and word puzzles.
Surviving are her children, Jimmy (Kathy) Coker of Olanta, Melanie (Joey) Prosser of Pamplico and Jay (Dot) Coker of Coward; grandchildren, Shay Coker, Kacey Turner, Kerry Coker, Bryan Haselden, Brandi Carter, Jordan Coker and Carter Coker; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Burroughs; daughter-in-law, Marie Coker.
Mrs. Coker was preceded in death by a son, Terry Coker; sisters, Frances Dukes and Ann Wise.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2025, at The Bible Temple with graveside service to follow at 4:00 PM at The Garden of Rest Cemetery, The Bible Temple.
