Betty Mitchell Timmons, 90, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at her home in Timmonsville surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Timmons was born June 30, 1934, in Florence County, daughter of the late Raleigh C. Yarborough and Myrtle Kirby Yarborough. She was a graduate of Lake City High School and attended Florence School of Business. Mrs. Betty was a member of Santee Baptist Church and was a retired Administrative Assistant with Warsaw Manufacturing Company in Kingstree that later became Oxford Industries. She was very active and creative in crafts and was a member of the Myrtle Beach and Sumter Crafters Guild. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby Mitchell, Frank Phillips, and Julius Timmons. Mrs. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grands and great-grands.
She is survived by her children, Ann Yarborough (Faron) Evans of Rock Hill; Billy (Tammy) Mitchell, Jr. of Scranton; Sabrina M. (Johnny) Butler of Timmonsville; Charles Oneal Mitchell of Lake City; and Sonny (Margaret) Phillips of Aynor; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Meri Yarborough Huggins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, John Clinton Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Donna Sabo Mitchell; and brother Marion Yarborough.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Monday, September 2, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tammy Mitchell, Linda Williams, Agape Hospice, Robert Finger a nurse, Tish a CNA and Betty Simmons a CNA and sitter, for all of their love and care during this time.
