Mr. Braxton Kirkland Craft, 80, husband of Irish Anne Poston Craft, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his home in Florence, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Craft was born on September 30, 1944, in Tallulah, LA, son of the late Braxton Corbitt Craft and Dorothy Lee Hansbrouth Craft. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Craft served his country with honor and dedication, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 30 years of service, including active duty during the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he continued to serve fellow veterans as Chief of Prosthetics for the VA in Jacksonville, Florida. After relocating to South Carolina, he worked with the Veterans Administration at the Florence Unemployment Office, continuing his lifelong commitment to supporting those who served.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Irish Anne Poston Craft; son, Braxton Kirkland Craft, Jr.; grandson, Braxton Kirkland Craft, III; brother, Ronald Dean (Sara) Craft; half-sisters, Sheila Lord and Beverly (Hans) Craft-Braatveit; half-brothers, Tommy Lord, Bill (Loretta) Lord, Michael Lord, and Barry (Tiwa) Craft; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Mr. Craft was preceded in death by his half-brothers, Jack Lord, Sr. and Bradley Newton Craft.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors to follow at 2:00 PM at Florence National Cemetery.
