Chad Cox Obituary

Chad McBride Cox, 42, died Thursday, January 28, 2021.

Chad was born on February 3, 1978, in Florence, SC. He was the son of Dan McBride Cox and Donna Poston Cox. He was a graduate of Lake City High School and attended Georgia State University and Francis Marion University. Chad was a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church, where he began attending as an infant and wowed the nursery workers with his beautiful smile. Growing up, Chad was involved in church activities, and attendance and throughout his life held fast to his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His heart overflowed with love and concern for others and was demonstrated daily with his acts of kindness and compassion. He had a servant's heart. Chad began working with his older brother, Neil, in the lawn care business while in high school. They worked long, hard hours together for many years. They played hard and laughed hard at days end about all that went wrong, but were very thankful for all that went right. Chad gained a strong work ethic early in his life and he maintained a strong brotherly bond with Neil. Most of Chad's Employment was with NLS Landscaping where he strived to please his customers, make them happy and see them smile.  Chad continued his life's journey with a positive and cheerful attitude even after a car accident in 2008, leading to his arm's amputation. He was larger than life with his contagious smile, and he gave them away freely. A cheerful greeting, a big wave of his hand, or a honk of his horn could and would always brighten one's day, which was his intention and to his delight. His exuberance for skateboarding began at an early age and continued until his death. He enjoyed spending time skating at the park with old friends, hopeful of making new friends and mentoring others trying to improve their skills. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid skateboarder. He enjoyed writing and began journaling at a young age. Before losing his arm, he derived much pleasure from playing his various guitars and continued until his death to research and invent ways to help him play again. His primary enjoyment came from spending time with his children, whom he loved deeply. Chad lived life to the fullest and made ordinary games and play dates extraordinary and so much fun. From feeding the homeless, taking in strays, and nursing their wounds to helping the outcasts, his children witnessed firsthand his love and compassion for all of God's creation. Foremost, he will be remembered for his vast heart overflowing with love.

Surviving to cherish his memory and time spent together here on earth are his parents Dan and Donna Cox; his wife, Danielle McClary Cox; daughters, Tatum Quinn and Harper Elliot Cox; son, Kingston McBride Cox; brother, Neil (Wendy) Cox; nieces, Brooklyn, Dixie, and Lacey Cox; nephews, Daniel, Ryan, Kyle, Manning, Whitt, and Eli Cox, all of Lake City, SC.
