Charlie "Buddy" Wilkes

Charlie "Buddy" Wilkes, 78, husband of Peggy Matthews Wilkes, died Thursday, September 3, 2020, McNair Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Lake City.

Mr. Wilkes was born on May 2, 1942 in Florence County, son of the late Freeland Wilkes and Annie Mae Lynch Wilkes. Mr. Wilkes was a retired farmer and steel worker, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Matthews Wilkes of Coward; sons, Shawn Wilkes, Kevin (Jessie Eaddy) Wilkes and Jason (April) Wilkes, all of Coward; grandchildren, Chelsey, Jayden, Michael, Robert, Josh, Blakelyn and soon to arrive, Nora Grace; siblings, Melva Wilkes Norwood, Shelby Jean Pate, Mary Lee Feagin, Dianne (Ted) Coleman, Shirley Thornhill, Pete (Alleyne) Wilkes and Susie Dease.

Mr. Wilkes was preceded in death by 2 infant sons, Charles Timothy Wilkes and James Randy Wilkes; and a brother, Darvin Wilkes.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Carolina Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Coward. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
