Mrs. Cheryl H Coker, of Lake City, a beloved wife of Randy H Coker, passed on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at the age of 79 at her residence.
Mrs. Coker was born on December 12, 1945 in Florence County, a member of the Lake City First Baptist Church and longtime member of the Dorcas Sunday school class. She was a bookkeeper and integral part of Randy Coker Ford, Kenny Bryant Auto and Thoroughbred Sales for many years. The daughter of the late Russell Humphries and Kathleen Gaskins Humphries. Cheryl was the heart and soul of her home, a woman whose warmth radiated with every flower she planted and through every room she decorated with her southern charm. Her meals brought people together in laughter and joy. Her kitchen was more than a place of cooking - it was a haven where love was ladled with every serving. Her recipes, many to be passed down through generations, were a reflection of her generous spirit and devotion to those she loved.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Randy H Coker, and her beloved children, Penny Coker Green and Skeet Coker (Tracey), her grand children Katelyn Coker and Kohl Coker, brother James Russell Humphries, brother-in-law Dan and a very special sister-in-law Pam M Coker, step-mother, Duna Hanna Humphries, nieces and nephews Wendy Weeks (Russell), Jill Hunt (Patrick), Russ Humphries (Kim), Jay Humphries (Randi), Sandy Graham (Russell) Kim Swartz (Todd), Tiffany Sanders (Franklin), Melissa Purvis (Cecil), Brian Rogers, several great nieces and nephews and two exceptional care givers Delores Dollard and Mary Graham. Her legacy will live on in the lessons she taught, the meals she shared, and the unwavering love she gave every single day.
Mrs Coker is preceded in death by her sister Betty Rogers (Dave), brother Donnie Humphries (Ann), brother-in-law Elmore “Bob” Coker (Johnette), sister-in-law Frances Humphries and son-in-law Troy Green.
Though our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind — Sunday dinners filled with laughter, the taste of her famous tea cakes, biscuits, cornbread, strawberry shortcake, and the quiet strength she carried through life.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Lake City First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to At the Foot of the Cross (P.O. Box 1406, Lake City SC, 29560), in her honor.
She fed our bodies and nourished our souls. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
