Clarence Winfred "Shorty" Evans, 76, died Friday, July 31, 2020, at his home in Lake City after an illness.
Mr. Evans was born on January 17, 1944 in Florence County, son of the late Carl Abram Evans and Iola Tanner Evans. He retired from the SC Department of Transportation. Shorty was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to auctions.
Surviving are his daughter, Linda Lee of Lake City; son, Marty (Denise) Evans of Lake City; grandsons, Nicholas Lee of Olanta and Benjamin Galloway of Lake City; sister, Merilynn E. Hayes of Pamplico; mother to his children, Betty Evans; and his pet companion, Helen.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his brother, Lonzo Evans and his sisters, Lee Isla Josey, Alma Doricy, Eunice Thompson and Dot Turner.
Funeral service will be 6:00 pm Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
