Clinton Leon Yarborough, Sr.

Mr. Clinton Leon Yarborough, Sr., 78, of Scranton, husband of Mildred Pate Yarborough, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, at Veteran Village, Florence.

Leon was born on November 1, 1945, in Scranton, son of the late Myrtie Yarborough Strickland and was raised by his grandparents, the late Ervin H. Yarborough and Lula Jane Lynch Yarborough. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Leon was a member of Scranton Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was owner of Yarborough Insurance Agency. He was a former town councilman for the town of Scranton and was a longtime member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge #48.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Mildred Pate Yarborough of Scranton, are his children, Clint Yarborough, Denise (Dennis) Goldman and Shannon Saxon; grandchildren, Taylor Goldman, Connor Goldman, Hayley Gause, Kiley Pate, Kristian Jackson, Whitney Knight and Jack Saxon; 7 great grandchildren; and a very close friend, whom he loved like a daughter, Sharon Coker Brown.

Mr. Yarborough was preceded in death by his siblings, Larue "Bubba Gene" Yarborough, Alton Yarborough, Sr., Edward Yarborough, Randolph Yarborough, Olean Yarborough, Hilton Strickland and Mallory Strickland.

Funeral services will be 7:30 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow the service. Burial will be private.
