Connie McKenzie Miles Bush

Edith Connie Bush (formerly McKenzie and Miles) passed away on December 31, 2024 surrounded by family. She was 81 years old. She was born in Lake City, SC on May 4, 1943 to Eli and Betsy McKenzie.

She was predeceased by both of her husbands, Ashton Miles and Ray Bush, and her seven siblings: Burlon McKenzie, Sis Thigpen, Reynolds McKenzie, Rezell McKenzie, Seron Parker, Dessie Floyd, and Delbert McKenzie.

She was survived by one daughter and two sons: Lanae (and Troy) Chaffins, Rodney “Bo” (and Shari) Miles, and Ryan (and Beverly) Miles; two grandchildren, Ashton (and Katie) Miles and April (and Austin) Wilson; and two great grandchildren, Sadie Miles and Paul Miles.

Connie was a hard-working woman who valued God and her family above all else. She was a lifetime member of Floyd Chapel PH Church in Lake City and frequented Gantt Street Baptist Church in Cayce, SC. After raising her three children, she went back to school at Lower Richland High School and acquired her high school diploma. She worked at Townsend SawChain, A&P Grocer, and Olympia Learning Center before retiring from the school district.

She would often share memories of driving to Lake City to visit various family members and how she never regretted any of those drives, even if there were times, she wasn’t sure if her car would make it up the hill. She would also recall the times of raising her children and the joys they brought her.

Even until the very end, Connie was a determined, independent, and feisty woman. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.

The family will be holding a graveside service at Floyd Chapel Cemetery, 1755 New Zion Road, Lake City, SC 29560, on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1701 New Zion Road, Lake City, SC 29560.
