David Matthew Ard, of Johnsonville S.C., beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away, Friday, October 10, 2025. His deep love for those around him will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was an avid fisherman, a talented mechanic, and an all-around handyman who could fix just about anything. He loved spending time outdoors and was happiest with a fishing pole in hand. In quieter moments, David enjoyed relaxing on the porch, singing karaoke and playing darts with his family, and sharing laughter that could light up the night.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Cassandra Ard, and his cherished grandchildren, Kaydence and Kaleb, who brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his son, Josh Davis; his brother, Eric Hopkins and his sisters, Julie Gandy (Aaron); Lori Ard and Cindy Davis, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, along with extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory forward.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Leo J. Ard and Nancy Abigail Phifer; his paternal grandparents, Ruell Prosser and Trudy Mabel Prosser; his maternal grandparents, Silas Bruce Phifer Jr. and Susie Kate Patton Phifer; his sister, Donna Gail Coker Ward; and his son, Kenneth Hestand.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A memorial of David’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor him.
