Delter Eugene Miles, Sr.

Mr. Delter Eugene Miles, Sr., 91, of Scranton, husband of Barbara M. Miles, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center.

Mr. Miles was born on October 22, 1932, in Florence County, son of the late Wilbert G. Miles and Ella Norwood Miles, who died while giving birth to his brother, James Boatwright. At the age of three, his father married Bertha Melton Miles, who became a mother to him. Mr. Miles was a very kind and considerate man, who loved his wife and family. He was a member of Lee’s Tabernacle Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Miles retired from Talon Manufacturing Company. 

Surviving are his wife of 74 years, Barbara M. Miles; daughters, Trenda M. McKenzie and Sandy (Tommy) Rauch; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, plus one on the way; sons-in-law, Swain Cole and Roy Parnell and family friend, Theresa Sanderford.

Mr. Miles was preceded in death by his sons, Eugene Miles and Sam Miles; daughters, Jackie Miles Cole and Ella Ann “Sissy” Miles Parnell; brothers, James Boatwright Miles and E. J. Miles; sister, Carinel Matthews; half-sister, Shirley Ann Miles.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home and at other times at the home of, Mrs. Barbara Miles, 1734 McAllister Mill Road, Scranton, SC 29591.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 3, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, Coward.
