Dexter Melton

Derry Dexter Melton, 79, died Monday, January 14, 2019, at Carolinas Hospital System, Florence.

Mr. Melton was born in Florence County on June 27, 1939, son of the late Dallas Dewey Melton and Helen Hutchinson Melton. He served his Country in the United States Army.  After working at Dupont for a number of years, he then became part owner of G & M Enterprises, Corp.

Surviving are his sisters, Gerry Gaskins of Spartanburg, Nan (Jim) Thomas of Coward and Amelia (Jimmy) Lynch of Scranton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by a brother, John Melton.                                                                                                      

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2019, at High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Scranton. 

The family will receive friends at the home, 1247 E. Myrtle Beach Hwy., Coward, SC 29530.
