Dollie Ridgeway Obituary

Mrs. Dollie Mae Ridgeway, 76, of Scranton, wife of Joseph Henry Ridgeway, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Ridgeway was born on July 7, 1946, in Florence County, daughter of the late Richard Charlie Sims and Nellie Floyd Sims. She was a member of Faith Holiness Church, where she was a dedicated and faithful woman of God, always ready to worship, sing or lend a hand.  Out of the many songs she sang, “I want my Lord to be satisfied with me”, was her favorite to sing. Mrs. Ridgeway was a very humble and passionate lady, who had a beautiful smile and the prettiest blue eyes.  She loved traveling with her husband, Henry and going to the mountains, along with spending time with her family. Mrs. Ridgeway was a caregiver, prayer warrior and friend to many. She was known by many as “Aunt Dollie”.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Joseph Henry Ridgeway; daughters, Debra (Phil) Poston of Pamplico and Renee (Gary) Goodwin of Normandy, TN; grandsons, Garie (Jennifer) Poston of Pamplico, Christopher (Erin) Poston of Florence, Skylar (Hilary) Ridgeway of Dowelltown, TN, Jacob Ridgeway of Scranton, and Dillon (Makayla) Coker of McMinnville; granddaughter, Zoie Coker of Normandy, TN; great grandchildren, Ansley Poston, Aliza Poston, Holland Poston, Elizabeth Poston, Daniel Poston, Haygen Ridgeway, and Ivy Coker; siblings, Anease (Tom) Wilkes of Olanta, Rosa Nell Ridge of Florence, Kenneth Sims of Coward and Frank Sims of Pawleys Island; special friend, Greg (Jennifer) Poston of Hannah, Pamplico; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Ridgeway was preceded in death by a son, Randy Ridgeway; brother, Dicky Boy Sims; mother-in-law, Lucille Ridgeway.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Hospice, Amedisys Home Health and Dr. Benjamin Lamb for their compassionate care.
