Don Story

Donald Ray Story, 78, husband of Cathy Parrott Story, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at MUSC Florence, SC.

Don was born in Fenton, Michigan on July 31, 1945, son of the late Rex and Alice Petrie Story of Flint Michigan. Upon graduating from high school he immediately enlisted in the US Air Force and began his military career in the Intelligence Division, eventually transitioning into the medical field. Don attained as Associate Degree in Nursing with a surgical specialty from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He later re-enlisted in the Air Force and ultimately attained the rank of Captain.  A registered nurse for 45 years, Don eventually found his niche advising and coordinating start up procedures for heart programs at numerous hospitals. As a younger man, he enjoyed bass fishing and participating in fishing tournaments and later in life became an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Cathy P. Story of Florence; son, Brian (Katsue) Story of Japan; daughter, Rebecca S. Krajewski of Henderson, Texas; son, Timothy (Karyn) Story of Midlothian, Texas; son Jeffrey Story; step-son Kenny (Jenifer) Moore of Bluffton, SC; a number of grandchildren; brother, George (Deb) Story of Richmond Hill, Georgia; In addition to his parents, Don was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom Story, step-son, Kevin Moore and a son-in-law Shane Krajewski.

Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, June 9, 2024, at College Park Baptist Church, 1501 Third Loop Road, Florence, SC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church
