Effie Rauch Grimsley

Mrs. Effie Rauch Grimsley, 93, wife of the late Reverend Lonnie James Grimsley, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home in Scranton.

Mrs. Grimsley was born on September 19, 1931, in Lexington County, daughter of the late Thomas W. Rauch and Lizzie Craps Rauch. She was a graduate of J.C. Lynch High School and a devoted member of Shiloh Church of God of Prophecy, where she faithfully served in numerous capacities throughout the years. As a dedicated pastor’s wife, she stood beside her husband in ministry, offering unwavering support and service at each church they were called to. She attended 3 terms of Bible Training Institute along with her husband in Cleveland, Tennessee. Her life was a true reflection of her deep love for Christ, and she lived out her faith daily through her actions, kindness, and servant’s heart.

She found joy in sewing, crocheting, and cooking, and was known for her nurturing spirit. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, she was also a compassionate caregiver to many. Her legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will be remembered by all who knew her.

Surviving are her daughters, Judy Broach of Holly Hill and Dianne Evans (Wayne) Varnadoe of Manning; daughter-in-law, Sherry Floyd Grimsley; grandchildren, Kirk (Eunice) Broach, Kimberly (Brian) Dover, Justin (Dana) Evans and Doug Grimsley; great grandchildren, McKenna Dover, Micah Dover, Ethan Evans, Austin Evans, Trace Grimsley and Caulder Broach; great great granddaughter, Olivia Evans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Grimsley; siblings, Charlie Rauch, Earl Rauch, Ray Rauch, Ada Cox, Rosa Watford, Rev. Nettie Lee, Lessie Hicks; sons-in-law, Gerald Evans and Rev. Robert Levon Broach.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 18, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
