Elinor (Smith) Holloman

Elinor Smith Holloman (80), of Florence, SC went to live with her Lord and Savior on July 6, 2021 after an extended illness.  She was born in Chester, SC on March 20th, 1941.  She was the oldest child of the late Luther Warren Smith and Ruby Segars Smith.  Elinor grew up on a family farm in Bishopville, SC, and graduated from Ashwood-Central High School where she played basketball for the Ashwood Rams.  Elinor is survived by her husband, Howard Glenn Holloman, Sr. and her three children, Sandra Holloman of Columbia SC, Howard Holloman (Tara) of Florence and Stephen Holloman (Kene) also of Florence, a sister, Judy Smith McLeod (Eldridge), of Bishopville, three brothers, Bryan Smith (Judy), Mike Smith, Glenn Smith (Teressa) all of Bishopville.  “Meme” was loved dearly by her grandchildren, Candace Dewitt (Jamie), Emily Mathis, Jesse Mathis, Meagan, Tallon and Tanner Holloman, Whitney and Allie Grimes and great grandchildren, Hayden, Brooklyn and Camille Dewitt. Elinor was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy Smith and his wife Mary Ruth, sisters in law, Judy Smith and Robin Smith.  Elinor and Glenn lived a wonderful life of 61 years together and raised three children.  They moved several times while Glenn was on the Highway Patrol and Elinor worked for Drs. Coleman, Amar & McGinnis in Darlington, was manager of the appliance department at Lowe’s of Florence and she ended up as the bookkeeper of her two son’s landscape and construction business.  Elinor was a member of the Horry and Florence County Highway Patrol Wives Auxiliary.  Elinor loved her family very much and getting together with family was her favorite thing to do.   She was an active member of College Park Baptist Church since 1977 where she was on many committees over the years, helped with Vacation Bible School, worked in the nursery caring for babies and worked with Operation Christmas Child for many years.  Elinor loved her church family very much and was loved very much by them.  Most importantly, Elinor loved the Lord with all her heart.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to noon at College Park Baptist Church on Third Loop Road in Florence.

Funeral service will begin at noon with burial to follow at Florence Memorial Gardens on Cashua Drive, directed by Carolina Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to College Park Baptist Church, 1501 Third Loop Road, Florence, SC 29501
