Elsie Floyd McKenzie Obituary

Mrs. Elsie Floyd McKenzie, 83, wife of the late Jimmie Dexter McKenzie, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Regency Hospital of Florence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. McKenzie was born on February 13, 1940, in Clarendon County, daughter of the late Dannie C. Floyd and Allie Floyd. She was a faithful member of Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church and former, Sunday School Teacher. Elsie had the gift of making you feel special and loved. Her home was a place where everyone felt at home, her cooking is legendary, especially her cakes and dressing. She was a doer and the things she did for you came straight from her heart. She was a prayer warrior and raised your name up to God. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Surviving are her daughters, Debbie McKenzie (Ralph) Turner of Murrells Inlet, Kaye McKenzie (Carl Anthony) Everatt, Misty McKenzie Hall, both of Aiken, and Kristi Hope Player of Lake City; grandchildren, Tony Everatt, Colt (Kayla) Everatt, Aaliyah McKenzie Hall, April Everatt (Todd) Faulkner, and Keira Everatt (Jan) Enabore;  great grandchildren, Sadie Lynn Everatt, Callie Faulkner, Aubree Claire Scurry, Everatt Enabore; siblings, Sammy (Lucille) Floyd, Nettie Welch, Sarah Collins, and Dan (Sonya) Floyd; sisters-in-law, Wanda Floyd and Ethaline (Lamar) Driggers; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Bobbie) McKenzie; many nieces, nephews and other extended family; very dear friends and neighbors, Junior Odom and Cody & Cynthia Odom.

Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jimmie Dexter McKenzie and her brother, Reverend Chesley Floyd.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3709 St. James Road, Lake City, SC 29560, in memory of Mrs. Elsie Floyd McKenzie.
