Cleo McElwin Miles (known as Elwin), died October 22, at MUSC Hospital in Florence, SC. He was 73 years old. He was born on July 19, 1951, in Florence, SC. His service will be on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ocean View Church, located at 7300 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Commons Area of the church.

Elwin was a graduate of J.C. Lynch High School and Francis Marion University, where he received a Business Administration degree. He started his career at JC Penney’s in management. He was the Director of Store development for Waccamaw Pottery and then continued his business career as the Chief Operating Officer of Burroughs & Chapin Co. He then worked as the Chief Operating Officer of Mystical Golf, operating Man O’ War, The Wizard, and The Witch golf developments. Always the entrepreneur, he started his own companies, Mac Pro Industries, doing promotional products and Muddy Waters Design (his three vendor shops).

Elwin was an avid golfer and past member of the Myrtle Beach Golf Course Owners Association. He operated and booked golf tournaments and packages through MM Golf & Travel with his son Mackey. He had his Trash Talking Tour golf group for summer play. He was an athlete-playing baseball, basketball and football. He loved college football and was an avid USC Gamecocks fan and became a Wake Forest fan after marrying Jackie.

He published three books of faith, taught his Sunday school group, and sang in a Gospel Quartet in his past.   He was always looking for ways to help others in need and for the past twelve years organized the Carolina Forest Food drive twice a year. He inspired others to make a difference. True integrity, compassion and endless pursuit of righteousness defined his daily ambition. His legacy would be faith, family and friends ….definitely his daily goal.
