Ethel Mae Floyd Obituary

Ethel Mae McGee Floyd, 94, wife of the late M.C. Floyd, moved to her heavenly home on October 4, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.

Ms. Floyd was born on November 20, 1927, and the daughter of the late Traxton McGee and Ethel McGee.

She was a faithful member of Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy, where she was the oldest living member of the church.  She taught the toddler Sunday School class for several years and volunteered at the church whenever needed. She attended church faithfully and she loved her church family.

Ms. Floyd loved to cook for her family and spent many years having “Sunday at Momma’s” where her family gathered at her home and they shared many laughs and lots of love.

Ms. Floyd loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God’s word. Though she was a humble, gentle woman, Ms. Floyd was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying had on her family. She left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace and was an example to all who knew her.

Surviving are her children, Mary Dennis (Randy) of Turbeville, Darlene Wasko (Dennis) of Florence and  Patricia Lee (Don) of Florence; son- in-law, Ronnie Shady of Scranton; daughter-in-law, Diane Floyd of Effingham and  Ann Culick of Scranton. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Elease Lee of Lake City, Shirley Floyd of Sumter and one brother, Charlie “Dukes” McGee of Lake City; a special niece, Diane Collins.

Ms. Floyd was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Floyd; two sons, David Floyd and Mack Elwood Floyd; daughter, Linda Shady; grandsons, Mack Swain Floyd and Mack Elwood Floyd, Jr; siblings, Luke McGee, Eulalee Evans, Janie Mae McCutcheon, Buster McGee, Carl Springs, Lillie Mae Bryant and J. P. McGee.
