Evelene (Powell) Stone

Mrs. Evelene Powell Stone, 93, wife of the late Alton Stone, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at The Palms at Florence.

Mrs. Stone was born on May 12, 1932, in Florence County, daughter of the late Hedley Powell and Rozelar Brown Tanner Powell. Mrs. Stone was a faithful member of St. John FWB Church in Pamplico. She was formerly employed with Wentworth, Delta Mills, and Coleman. A talented seamstress, she enjoyed sewing and often made her own clothes. Mrs. Stone was a hardworking woman who took great pride in raising her family and deeply loved her children and grandchildren. She cherished spending time with her family.

Surviving are her sons, Tony (Pam) Stone of Coward, Ronnie (Carolyn) Stone of Darlington and Derrel (Tammy) Stone of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Rodney Stone, Casey (Katrina) Stone, Shannon (Eric) Glenn, and Christy (Greg) Welch; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by a daughters, Karen Stone and Rosella Stone; son, Kennard Stone; grandson, Anthony Stone; four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. John FWB Church Cemetery, Pamplico, with visitation to follow the service.
