Faye (Hayes) Creel

Mrs. Faye Hayes Creel, 94, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Ervin Carmichael "Mike" Creel, Jr. for 58 years.

Mrs. Creel was born on March 23, 1931, in Pamplico, the daughter of the late Andrew J. Hayes and Seanie Belle Taylor Hayes. A 1949 graduate of Hannah High School, she later worked as a bookkeeper for W.J. Tarte Motors and M&D Drug Co. Her sense of humor was quick, often catching others by surprise, and her laughter—genuine and light—was a gift to those lucky enough to hear it. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and gardening.

While able, she was a faithful member of Lake City United Methodist Church for 65 years, where she was actively involved in various ministries, including the ladies' meetings and Circle #5. Her kind and generous spirit touched many throughout her church and community.

She is survived by her two sons; W. Todd Creel (Janice) of Lake City and Mark Creel (Amy) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Matthew E. Creel (Brooke) of Pamplico, Benjamin A. Creel (Stevi) of Lexington, Amber C. Bernard (James) of Matthews, NC, and Emily C. Habash (Andrew) of Lexington, KY; great-grandchildren, Madison Creel, Emerson Creel, Emma Roach, Easton Creel, Blake Creel, Jimmy Bernard, AnnaBelle Bernard and Magnolia Habash. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Mae Stone, Maude Ard, Myrtle Weatherford, Beatrice Haselden, and Mary Hayes (infant); and her brothers, Emerson Hayes, Jack Hayes, Vivian Hayes and Wilson Hayes.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Lake City United Methodist Church, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Lake City Memorial Park.
