Mrs. Frances Norton Amos, 88, wife of Reverend Douglas Amos, went to her heavenly home Saturday, November 19, 2022.
Mrs. Frances was born on January 22, 1934, in Lancaster, South Carolina, daughter of the late Vernon D. Norton and Ruby Norton. She was a graduate of Emmanuel College and East Carolina University and retired as a teacher from J. C. Lynch Elementary School. Mrs. Amos served faithfully as a pastor’s wife at various Pentecostal Holiness Churches. Mrs. Frances was a member of Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Ministries and the Senior Citizens. She also enjoyed going to various senior citizen events. Mrs. Frances was affectionally known as “Granny.” She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her kind, gentle spirit. Mrs. Frances always saw the best in people and was an encourager to everyone she met.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 66 years are her sons, Reverend Greg (Tamara) Amos of Florence and Robbie (Evelyn) Amos of Scranton; grandchildren, Seth Amos of Brooklyn, NY, Courtney (Will) Handley of Richmond, VA, Whitney Amos of Cades, McKenzie Amos of Florence and Ruby Kate Amos of Scranton; great grandchildren Emma Grace Amos, Rowan Handley and Griffin Handley.
Mrs. Frances was preceded in death by her sister Daphne Walker and sister and brother- in-law, Althea Brown (Bill).
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 22 , 2022, at Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lake City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Richmond County Memorial Park Cemetery, 1717 East Broad Avenue, Rockingham, NC.
