Freda (Rushton) McCutcheon

Mrs. Freda R. McCutcheon, 65, wife of Mack McCutcheon, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee.

Freda was born on February 22, 1959, in Saluda, SC, daughter of the late Chesley and Martha Jean Rushton. She was a graduate of Saluda High School and Kenneth Shuler Barber College. When Freda and Mack were first married, she worked with DJ at Lynches Barber Shop, becoming the first lady barber in Lake City. Freda was also the co-owner of Libby’s Florist for many years and enjoyed fishing, shagging, beach music and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her wittiness and humor, for always speaking her mind, and for her joking around and “dressing up” for a friend’s birthdays. Freda loved her family, friends and dogs, more than life itself and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Mack McCutcheon; daughter, Jessica McCutcheon; son, Matthew (Kasey) McCutcheon; grandchildren, Alexis McCutcheon and Haven McCutcheon; sister, Marcia Rushton of Lexington; a host of special friends, including Sherri & Chris Ward, and Adrienne Thompson.

Freda was preceded in death by a grandchild, Addi McCutcheon.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Cockfield Cemetery, 2625 Creek Road, Lake City, SC 29560.

The family would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers during her time of illness.
