Gene Ronald Kirby

Mr. Gene Ronald Kirby, 85, husband of Belvadeen Driggers Kirby, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Ronald was born on October 10, 1940, in Williamsburg County, son of the late Reverend Eugene Kirby and Emmie Covington Kirby. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #193. Mr. Ronald was a long-distance truck driver, loved racing his Tennessee walking horses, and was known to many as the “Pickle Man.” He enjoyed aggravating and picking on those he loved most.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 60 years, Belvadeen Kirby, are his daughters, Darleen Kirby of Florence and Pam Kirby (Blake) Driggers of Manning; grandchildren, Amanda Kirby, Kirby Driggers, Hanna Driggers; great grandchildren, Cameron Caughman, D.J. Sutton, Aiden Sutton; sisters, Janice K. McCutcheon, Judy (J.W.) Brown, Dianne (Mack) Miles, Kathy (Dwayne) Parrish; sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Emery; special daughter, Ruth Ann (Bubba) Miles; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Mr. Kirby was preceded in death by his son, Gene R. Kirby; sister, Blanche Moore; brother, Michael Kirby; sisters-in-law, Shelby Jean Floyd, Pam Kirby; brothers-in-law, Wesley McCutcheon, Delbert Floyd and Dennis Emery.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at New Hope Christian Church Cemetery (Old Mother Church).

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home, 2561 Hebron Road, Cades, SC 29518.
