Henry Larue McKnight

Mr. Henry Larue McKnight, 71, of  Scranton, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at his home.

Larue was born on June 3, 1951, in Florence County, son of the late Ervin Aaron McKnight and Willahrea McKnight. He attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Larue was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War and a member of the VFW.  He was a very caring person, who mentored many children as his own, even though he never had any children of his own. Larue was always known as a giver, who gave of himself to help others.  He loved horses, the mountains, his Sunday afternoon drives and eating with his family.

Surviving are step-mother, Sundae McKnight; brothers, Timmy (Lisa) McKnight of Florence, Jerry (Carol) Ivey, Billy (Debbie) Ivey, Earl (Tara) Ivey, Todd (Shug) McKnight, Mark (Tammy) McKnight, Ray (Teresa) Miles and Wayne Miles all of Scranton; sisters, Birtie (Danny) Ivey of Olanta, Angie Welch of Manning, Shelly Tisdale of Kingstree,  Marie (Phillip) Ivey and Judy (Ken) Ivey both of Scranton; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Ivey, Sandra DuBose, Rodney Ivey, Alexandria McKnight, Karis McKnight, Adalyn DuBose, Aleaha Buddin, Shaygon Durden, Hailey Floyd, Brooke Skinner, Whitney Grier, Alexis McKnight, Danielle McKnight, Amy Parrott, Joshua Parrott, Jason (Lara) Kirven, Anna Kirven, Abbie Kirven, J. J. Kirven, A. J. Ivey and Catlin Shawn; great niece, Riverlyn Dickerson.

Mr. McKnight was preceded in death by grandparents, Johnny and Eunice McKnight; brother, David Miles; sister, Debra McKnight Dennis; step-mother, Miriam McKnight; uncle, O’dell McKnight;

Graveside services will  be at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 10, 2023, at Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Carolina Funeral Home .
