J.L. Poston

Mr. J.  L. Poston, 84, husband of the late Marlene P. Poston, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, at his home in Pamplico.

Mr. Poston was born on October 4, 1939, in Florence County, son of the late Joseph Lonzia Poston and Daisy Ridenhour Poston.  He attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement, he was a farmer and worked several years as a log truck driver for White Timber Company. Mr. Poston was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for raising and training Beagles at Big Swamp Kennels. He was a doting grandfather and great grandfather, and the only thing he loved more than his grandchildren was his great grands.

Surviving are his children, Tammy (Leonard) Edgeworth, Angie (Todd) Balch and Jay (Tracy) Poston; grandchildren, Brooke (Mark) Chavis, Hayes (Rachael) Edgeworth, T. J.  Balch, Chris Balch, Lee (Brian) Floyd, Marla (Chris) Bass and Will Poston; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jo (Bennie) Eaddy, Carolyn Floyd, Jean (Jack) White and Florence Poston; brothers-in law, Lawrence Hanna and Glenn Melton; aunt, Odessa Poston; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Mr. Poston was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo Poston and Norman Poston; sisters, Allie P. Tarte, Creola Poston, Georgia Lee Turner, Kathleen Robinson, Judy P. Hanna and Jeanette Melton.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Monday, July 29, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton, SC.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 29, 2024, at  Prosser Cemetery, 3359 Big Swamp Road, Pamplico, SC.
