J.V. Altman

James Vernott "J.V." Altman, 87, husband of Billie Altman, died Sunday, November 17, 2019, at his home after an illness.

Mr. Altman was born on May 12, 1932 in Florence County, SC, son of the late Otwell Delwood Altman and Iona Humphries Altman.  He was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. JV retired from Sunbeam and later became self-employed. After retiring, his favorite past time was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife of Scranton, are his daughters, Kathie Matthews of Scranton and Karen (Bruce) Higley of Lumberton, NC; son, Jerald (Sharon) Altman of Scranton; grandchildren, Ray Hart, Laurie (Jacob) Combs, Steven (Crystal) Benton, Justin (Danielle) Altman, Morgan A. (Jason) James, Joye A. (Andrew) James; great grandchildren, Taylor Hart, Caitlyn Benton, Caroline Combs, Madison Combs; brothers, Warren (Reunette) Altman and Mike (Ann) Altman; sister, Bobbie Baxley and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

Mr. Altman was preceded in death by brothers; O.D. Altman and Carrol Altman.

Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2019, one hour prior to the service.
