Jack Luke Reed

July 29, 1939 ~ February 7, 2021 (age 81)


Jack Luke Reed, 81, husband of the late Ethel Juanita Evans "Tootie" Reed, died Sunday, February 7, 2021, at the residence of his daughter.

Mr. Reed was born on July 29, 1939 in Clarendon County, son of the late Archie L. Reed, Sr. and Bertie Sims Reed. He was associated with Santee Print of Sumter for many years, Lowder Roofing and later retired as the owner of Reed Roofing. He enjoyed fishing and riding the country side.

Surviving are his daughters, Hazel Reed (Lloyd) Knotts of Florence and Brenda Reed (Jay) McDonald of Kingstree; nine grandchildren – including a special granddaughter, Heather Renee (Josh) Hill; twenty great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Norma Reed and Debbie Reed; brother, Archie L. (Sandy) Reed, Jr. of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his sons, Randy Luke Reed and Jimmy "Bo" Reed; brothers, Earl Reed, Don Reed and Parnell Reed; and sisters, Lula Jo Morris, Belva Dean Broach and Rosalee Reed.  

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Dee Douglas and Brooke Creel for their care and concern.

Graveside services will be 2:30 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Piney Grove Cemetery in the Barrineau Community of Lake City.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.
