James Alvin Knotts, 85, husband of Nellie Mae McDougal Knotts, died Thursday, September 30, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence,
Mr. Knotts was born on January 29, 1936 in Florence County, son of the late William Henry Knotts and Eva Filyaw Miller. He was a founding member of Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Men's Fellowship. Mr. Knotts was a very hard worker. He was a contractor and farmer for 50 plus years and was a member of the agriculture society. Mr. Knotts loved to fish, hunt and plant his garden and flowers. He loved his church and his family very much.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Knotts of Timmonsville; daughter, Joann Knotts (Jamie L.) Conyers of Timmonsville; granddaughter, Beverly B. (Russell) Dennis of Florence; great grandchildren, Madeline Dennis and Anna Dennis, both of Florence; brother, Gene (Shelby) Knotts of Scranton; stepchildren, Connie (Jimmy) Kelly of Florence and Julian Dan (Kirsty) Sports of Clayton, NC; son-in-law, Ronnie Williams of Florence; four step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren.
Mr. Knotts was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Audrey Lee Knotts; sisters, Joyce (Paul) Ashcraft and Ruth (CL) Tedder; stepdaughter, Faye Williams.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021, Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, Timmonsville, with burial to follow at Matthews Cemetery, Coward,
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, October 3, 2021, at Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, Timmonsville.
