Mr. James Carlisle Lynch, 95, husband of the late Jacquelyn Harmon Lynch, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at his home in Lake City.
Mr. Lynch was born on January 28, 1931, son of the late William Solomon Lynch and Mary Webster Lynch. He was a life-long member of Lake City First Baptist Church and faithful member of the Jeffords Sunday School Class. Mr. Lynch was a graduate of Lake City High School, and attended Presbyterian College. He also served in the US Army. Mr. Lynch was a farmer and a tobacco warehouseman for many years and served on several Boards of the Tobacco Industry.
Mr. Lynch began his service on the Florence Soil & Water Conservation District Board in 1985. He served for 41 years, most of those years as chairman. He served as Pee Dee Area Director for 4 years on the SC Association of Conservation Districts. He received the Outstanding District Commissioner of the Year Award from the SCACD. In his 41 years he served Florence County and the State of SC as a true “Keeper of the Land”.
Surviving are his son, Jim (Tammy) Lynch; daughter, Sue L. (Mike) Jordan; grandchildren, Wade (Mary) Jordan, Russ (Christi) Jordan, J C Lynch, Mary Lib (Devlin) Curl, Whitney Lynch, Danielle (Bobby) Freeman and Troy Fennel; 10 great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by his brother, William S. “Billy” Lynch.
The family would like to thank the staff of McLeod Hospice and close friends Daisy Cameron and Janice McCutcheon. A special “Thank You” to our caregivers, Vernethia, Mae, Sonya, Addie, Michelle and Kate for the loving care during our father’s illness.
A Celebration of Life will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 10, 2026, at Lake City First Baptist Church Family Life Center, with visitation one hour prior.
