James Michael Strater

Mr. James Michael Strater, 61, husband of Rachel McClam Strater, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at his home in Scranton.

Mr. Strater was born on March 10, 1963, in Akron, Ohio son of the late Robert Renz Strater and Ruth Laura Simpkins Strater.  He was a 13-year Veteran of the US  Air Force, serving during Operation Desert Storm. Mr. Strater was a Data Base Engineer with Deloitte Consultant.  He enjoyed singing karaoke, traveling and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Rachel McClam Strater; children, James Michael (Rachel) Strater, Jr., Kathryn Elizabeth Strater, Jennifer Lynn Strater and Julian A. (Vickie) Buie, Jr;  grandchildren, James (Kayla) Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Gavin Hayes, Britney (Michael) Wegrzyn, Rebecca Parker, Jacob Parker and Wyatt Wilson; great grandchild, Melanie Rose Parker; brother, Jeffrey Thomas (Susan) Strater.

Mr. Strater was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Diane Buie and sister, Julie Ellen Strater.

A Celebration of Life will be 7:00 PM, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends, immediately following the service.
