Mrs. Janie Lynch Wilkes, 80, wife of the late Troy Wilkes, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her home in Scranton, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Wilkes was born on February 3, 1944, in Florence County, daughter of the late Owens Lynch and Pauline Lee Lynch. She faithfully attended Pleasant Grove Church of God of Prophecy. Mrs. Wilkes worked at Korn Industries for a number of years and retired from Walmart after 28 years of service. She loved taking pictures and baking cakes of any type and decorating them.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Michael) Braxton of Scranton; grandchildren, Courtney (Michael) Shady of Charlotte and Shane (Cayla) Braxton of Timmonsville; brother, Willard Levon “Rooney” (Kathy) Lynch; sister, Jeanette Boyd; great grandchildren, Lily Shady, Richard Lewis, Dean Seal and Ryan Seal.
Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Eileen “Nancy” Tedder.
The family of Mrs. Wilkes extends a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Hospice and caregivers, Brenda Culick and Cayla Braxton, for their compassionate care.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 14, 2024, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Elmore Cemetery, Coward.
