James B. "Jimmy" Thompson, Jr., 74, husband of Mary Powers Thompson, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Mr. Thompson was born on June 12, 1946 in Kingstree, son of the late James "Bub" Thompson and Dorothy Owens Thompson. He was a Veteran of the United States Marines and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Powers Thompson of Hemingway; sons, Anthony (Wanda) Thompson and Dusty (Heather) Thompson, both of Hemingway; grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Austin Thompson, Maelyn Thompson and Karla Jones, all of Hemingway; brother, Al Thompson of Hemingway; and sisters, Connie Stone and Cynthia (Ken) Hucks, both of Hemingway; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bud Stone and sister-in-law, Gloria Thompson.
Funeral services will be 5:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2020, at Midway Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Friday, August 21, 2020, at Midway Baptist Church, Hemingway.
